Granular Intelligence

Your business is unique. Your data should reflect that.

No two companies are the same, and you can't make smart business decisions based on generic or proxy data. SYNE offers more granularity than any other platform — so your sustainability data reflects your actual operations, not an industry average.

Customise your calculation methodology
Configure footprint methodologies per business unit, geography, asset type or product line. Switch between market-based and location-based Scope 2, or apply custom emission factors specific to your operations.
Configure footprints by business unit or geography
Set independent boundaries, targets and methodologies for each entity, region or product line. Drill from group-level consolidated view to individual facility or SKU without losing context.
Activity-based Scope 3 for products and materials
Move beyond spend-based proxies for what you buy. Get activity-based Scope 3 Category 1 calculations for the specific products and materials in your procurement, matched to 3M+ product-level emission factors.
AI supply chain decomposition
Use SYNE AI to decompose your supply chain spend and procurement data into product-level emission contributors — giving you a detailed, actionable view of what's driving your value chain footprint, without waiting for supplier surveys.

FAQ

Common questions about SYNE Measure

Everything you need to know before you get started. Can't find your answer? Our team is happy to help.

Talk to an expert
Most enterprise customers complete their initial data integration and have their first ESG dashboard live within 4–8 weeks. Our onboarding team maps your existing data sources, configures your org hierarchy and pre-populates your KPI library based on your sector and reporting obligations. A basic footprint can be live in as little as 2 weeks if your data sources are accessible via API.
SYNE supports the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard (Scope 1, 2 and all 15 Scope 3 categories), PCAF for financed and insurance-associated emissions, ISO 14064, and all major disclosure frameworks including GRI, CSRD/ESRS, TCFD, ISSB, CDP, SFDR, EU Taxonomy, SEC climate rules and UN SDGs. Calculation methodologies are fully configurable — you can apply spend-based, activity-based, average-data or supplier-specific methods per category.
Our emission factor database aggregates data from 40+ authoritative sources including IPCC, DEFRA (UK), US EPA, ecoinvent, EXIOBASE, IEA, and national environment agencies across 33 countries. Factors are version-controlled and updated on a rolling basis — when a source publishes updated factors, SYNE automatically recalculates affected records and flags the changes for review. Every factor used in a calculation is cited with its source, version and date.
For suppliers that haven't responded to data requests, SYNE AI automatically applies the most appropriate alternative method — typically spend-based or average-data — using sector-specific emission factors. The platform clearly flags which records used primary supplier data versus estimated data, giving you a Data Quality Score for each Category 1 and 2 record. As suppliers engage, estimated data is automatically replaced with primary data and the calculation updated. You can track supplier response rates, send automated reminders and prioritise outreach based on emissions hotspot analysis.
SYNE's immutable audit log captures every data input, edit, import, approval, rejection and export — including the user, timestamp, source system and the specific values before and after any change. Calculation audit trails show the emission factor applied, its source and version, the methodology chosen and any AI assistance used. Assurance providers can be granted read-only auditor access to review the full data lineage without needing to interact with live data. Logs are retained for a minimum of 7 years and exportable in PDF or structured data formats.
Yes. SYNE's entity-level configuration allows each business unit, geography or legal entity to apply its own boundary settings, Scope 2 methodology (market-based or location-based), emission factors and reporting currency. Group-level consolidation then aggregates these entities using configurable consolidation rules (equity share, operational control or financial control approaches). This is particularly important for multinationals operating across regulatory jurisdictions with different requirements.
SYNE's double materiality module guides you through the full ESRS-aligned process: stakeholder identification and mapping, impact materiality scoring (severity × likelihood for negative impacts; scale × likelihood for positive), financial materiality scoring (magnitude × probability), stakeholder engagement surveys with automated aggregation, and AI-assisted narrative generation for each material topic. The output is an auditor-ready materiality matrix, heatmap and topic register that satisfies CSRD Article 19a requirements. The process typically takes 4–10 weeks depending on stakeholder engagement complexity.
Yes. SYNE's financial institution module is purpose-built for banks, asset managers, insurers and development finance institutions. It supports PCAF Standard calculations across all seven asset classes (listed equity, corporate bonds, business loans, project finance, commercial real estate, mortgages and motor vehicle loans), calculates PCAF data quality scores (1–5) for each asset, and measures portfolio temperature alignment against 1.5°C pathways using PACTA and SBTi FI methodologies. Insurance-associated emissions under the PCAF insurance guidance are also supported. Outputs feed directly into CSRD/ESRS E1, TCFD, ISSB S2 and SFDR PAI disclosures.

We used to spend six weeks pulling together ESG data for our annual report. With SYNE Measure, our data completeness went from 61% to 94% in three months — and our sustainability team actually has time to focus on strategy now.
